Prayer Points

We thank the Lord for providing Josh Symes, who was a paid scripture teacher in Lismore for 6 years,
We thank the Lord for partnership between our churches [Baptist and Anglican at this stage],
We thank the Lord for his loving and sovereign purposes that have brought this new ministry into being,
We pray that this brand new ministry will develop for the benefit of the students and the school community,
We pray for Josh and Megan as they await the arrival of their first baby and as Josh recovers from the flu,
We pray for the school as it seeks to nurture students, address bullying, and encourage students' God-given potential,
... to the glory of the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

History of the Board

No regular scripture had been taught at Westport High School in recent years. In 2008 Josh Symes, Baptist youth minister, started volunteering one day per week as an aid at Westport High and established a good relationship with the school and principal Terry Goodwin.


The Anglican Church also saw the opportunity for ministry at the school and this year is contributing funds from a bequest to enable Josh to minister an extra 2 days at the school.


In the Lord's goodness, through Josh's good rapport and a very helpful principal, Josh will commence scripture classes in May 2009 with all of Year 7.
